Privacy Policy
Summary
Backgammon Heritage does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal information. Everything happens on your device.
Data we collect
None. The app has no user accounts, does not connect to any server, and does not send any data off your device.
Data stored on your device
To remember your game and preferences between sessions, the app saves the following locally on your phone or tablet:
- Your current game in progress (board position, dice, cube, match score), so you can resume after closing the app.
- Your statistics (games played, wins, gammons, rating, XP, level).
- Your settings (sound, haptics, music, theme, computer difficulty, match length, rules options, auto-hints).
This information never leaves your device. Uninstalling the app removes it. Resetting statistics from inside the app erases the statistics portion.
Analytics, advertising, tracking
The app does not use analytics, advertising SDKs, or any tracking technology. It does not request access to your contacts, photos, microphone, camera, location, or any other system permission.
Network activity
The app makes no network requests. It runs entirely offline — fonts, sounds, and graphics are all bundled inside the app.
Children's privacy
Backgammon is appropriate for all ages. Because the app collects no information from any user, it is consistent with applicable children's privacy laws, including COPPA and the GDPR.
Third-party software
The app is built with open-source libraries that run locally on your device and do not transmit data: React (MIT), Tone.js (MIT) for synthesized sound, Lucide Icons (ISC), and the Cormorant Garamond typeface (SIL Open Font License), all bundled with the app.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new effective date. Material changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
